The United States has not yet made a final decision on whether it will transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine itself or whether its European Union (EU) allies will. Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, said so in an interview with CNN.
“Maybe we will focus on the transfer of planes by third countries, but the president has not yet made a final decision on this,” he said.
According to Sullivan, details of F-16 deliveries to Ukraine, including when the planes will be transferred, will be discussed between the United States and its allies.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he briefed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensyy on plans by Washington and its allies to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16 and other fourth-generation jets. Nevertheless, F-16 fighters would not have helped Kiev cope with the situation in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) (Bakhmut), Biden believes.
