Zelenskyy’s speech at the G7 summit did not affect the Brazilian president’s position on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s speech at the enlarged G7 summit meeting did not affect the position of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who believes that Russia remains the guarantor of long-term peace, and Moscow and Kiev should be helped to renew the dialogue. Brazil could play the role of mediator in the negotiation process.

Brazil’s leader announced his position at a press conference in Hiroshima.

“My position has remained the same,” TASS quoted the Brazilian leader as saying.

He noted that he had listened carefully to Zelenskyy’s speech in Hiroshima and recalled that he was ready for a bilateral meeting with the Ukrainian president, but ignored his proposal.

“Maybe he had a bigger meeting. I don’t know, but the fact remains: at 3:15 p.m. we had an appointment with him in this same room,” said Lula da Silva.

Earlier it was reported that Zelenskyy did not come to the flower laying ceremony by the leaders of the “Big Seven” at the Hiroshima bombing victims memorial in the Peace Park.

Recall that since May 19, a summit of the leaders of the G7 countries has been held in Hiroshima, the Russian Foreign Ministry has called this meeting an “incubator” of initiatives that undermine global stability and aim to further aggravate relations international.
