Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy announced on Monday his intention to contact U.S. leader Joe Biden daily on the issue of the country’s rising public debt until the situation is resolved.
“I think the president and I will talk every day <…> until we decide that,” he said in an interview with reporters after further consultation with the head of state.
McCarthy suggested the president wanted to find common ground with lawmakers on this issue.
Nevertheless, both the White House and the Republicans in Congress, during discussions on how to prevent a default in the country, do not consider the possibility of reducing US military spending.
Earlier, Biden declared his faith in the United States, which he believes will definitely be able to avoid default.
