Kathmandu : Nepalese mountaineer Kamirita Sherpa on Tuesday scaled Mount Everest for a record 28th time, breaking her own record for the most number of ascents on the world’s highest peak. Kamirita Sherpa had made this record about a week back. ‘Mountain’ guide Kamirita Sherpa (53) reached the peak at 8848.86 meters high at around 9:20 am on Tuesday. Chang Dawa Sherpa, the manager of ‘Seven Summit Trek’, who organized this mountaineering expedition, gave this information.
Kamirita climbed Mount Everest for the second time this season. Earlier, on May 17, he had climbed Mount Everest for the 27th time. A day earlier another senior Sherpa Pasang Dawa had equaled Kamirita’s previous record. A day after that, Kamirita once again took the record of reaching the world’s highest peak for the most number of times.
Kamirita, a resident of Solukhumbu district in eastern Nepal, first reached Mount Everest on May 13, 1994. He works as a senior guide for the ‘Seven Summit Trek’ based in Kathmandu. He has also conquered many other famous peaks which are more than 8,000 meters high.
