The Netherlands could be the first country to hand over an F-16 fighter jet to Ukraine, Politico reports, citing Yuriy Sak, adviser to Ukraine’s defense minister.
As noted by a representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands, today the country uses 24 F – 16 fighters, ready for deployment. It is specified that they will be used until the middle of next year, after which these equipment will be available for sale.
The day before, the head of the Danish Foreign Ministry, Lars Lekke Rasmussen, said that the decision on the transfer of the F-16 fighter jets by the country to Ukraine had not yet been taken.
Also, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said earlier that a number of EU countries, including Poland, have already started training Ukrainian pilots to work on F-16 fighters.
