New Delhi. New Chairperson (President) of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) Ravneet Kaur has taken over. Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ( Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman) administered him the oath of office and secrecy. CCI has given this information by tweeting.
The CCI said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the newly appointed chairperson Ravneet Kaur has taken over. Earlier, CCI member Sangeeta Verma was holding the charge of the chairperson of the Competition Commission of India. Ravneet Kaur will continue as the chairperson of CCI for the next five years.
It is noteworthy that Ravneet Kaur is the first woman to head the country’s national competition regulator. Ravneet Kaur is a 1988 batch IAS officer of Punjab cadre. He has over three decades of administrative work experience in various capacities in the Central and State Governments. He has taken over as the CCI chief at a time when it is in the process of conducting inquiries against tech giants like Amazon, Google, Facebook for alleged anti-competitive practices.
