White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients discussed the upcoming transfer of power with President-elect Donald Trump’s team.
He said Zients and Trump transition committee co-chairs Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon had a conversation about an orderly transition of power and reaffirmed the role of the agreements in beginning transition activities.
The day before, Biden and the losing Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris congratulated Trump on his victory.
The inauguration of the President of the United States will take place on January 20, 2025, at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. Trump will be sworn in and then given the floor. The ceremony will be followed by a ceremonial parade and an inaugural ball.
Trump previously refused to reappoint his children to White House positions.
Vice President Kamala Harris urged supporters to accept the 2024 presidential election results and committed to a peaceful transfer of power following Donald Trump’s win. In a concession speech Wednesday, Harris also promised to keep up the “fight that fueled this campaign.”
Trump is ready to move on his agenda and could announce staff picks within days, sources say, as his allies are already jockeying for high-powered spots in his administration. CNN reported, citing a spokesman for the administration of incumbent US President Joe Biden.
