The new presidential elections in the United States allow Washington to correct past mistakes regarding Iran and reconsider old incorrect approaches, said the official representative of the republic’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei.
“The responsibility for choosing the US president lies with the people. Now the people have made their choice. This election is an opportunity to review and rethink the wrong approaches taken in the past,” Baghaei told IRNA.
According to him, Tehran remembers the bitter experience of the past in interaction with previous US administrations. He specified that for Iran, an important indicator and criterion for assessing the effectiveness of the new government in Washington will be specific actions on its part.
Donald Trump, the Republican candidate and former president of the United States, won the 2024 US election on November 5, 2024, by winning 292 electoral votes and became the 47th president to enter the White House again from a non-consecutive term.
