Five countries will strengthen control over sanctions against Russia

Poland, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have entered into an agreement to strengthen the monitoring of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation and the exchange of relevant information. TASS reports this with reference to the Director General of Finnish Customs Sami Rakshit.

According to the customs press service, Finland is in close cooperation with the external border states of the European Union and considers it important to support the need for “unified sanctions control at the level of the entire EU”.

“With the agreement signed today (May 9), we want to contribute to increasing the effectiveness of sanctions,” Rakshit said.

According to the document, the parties to it undertake to exchange information and coordinate measures to eliminate illogical logistics routes.

The day before it became known that the countries of the European Union must agree on the 14th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation by July 2024.
