Quordle #1687 presents a mixed field in terms of difficulty. OCEAN and VISIT are the day’s most accessible boards – both common English words with clean vowel structures and no unusual consonant combinations. Players who opened with a high-vowel starter like AUDIO would have uncovered the O, E, and A across those two boards inside the first guess.
CLANK is the puzzle’s hardest board. The CL- opening cluster is not among the most common English starts, and the -ANK ending, while frequent, shares space with BLANK, FLANK, PLANK, and FRANK – all of which remain viable through the midgame. Players who land the K early are at an advantage; those who hold it for late will cycle through alternatives.
FEVER runs the double-E trap that Quordle and Wordle both deploy regularly. The repeated vowel sitting at positions two and four forces players to commit to the duplicate early or risk eliminating a valid answer. With only one unique consonant combination – FV at the open and the R close – FEVER resolves relatively quickly once the vowel structure is confirmed.
Managing four simultaneous boards requires pacing starter guesses to cross-reference as many letters as possible. On a day with VISIT and OCEAN sharing common letters (I, S, A, E), a starter that covers I, S, A, E, and O sets up both boards efficiently while also beginning to narrow FEVER and CLANK.
