Quordle #1688 — September 8, 2026. Answers: FLUNG, DIARY, HALVE, BIRCH.

Today’s Quordle (#1688, September 8, 2026) features four words that span a solid range of difficulty. The four boards each have their own traps; here are the answers up front, followed by individual breakdowns.

Quordle #1688 Answers – September 8, 2026

Board 1: FLUNG
Board 2: DIARY
Board 3: HALVE
Board 4: BIRCH

Hints and Breakdowns

FLUNG: Past tense of fling. The FL opening and UNG ending are fairly constrained once the vowel U lands, though solvers who don’t immediately test initial consonant clusters may spend extra rows. No repeated letters.

DIARY: A daily journal. Standard vowel-heavy word with I and A both in the first half. DAIRY is the most common wrong turn here – the letter order matters, and flipping A and I sends solvers in the wrong direction.

HALVE: To cut in half. The V is the constraint that catches people: solvers who haven’t placed it early often exhaust guesses ruling out more common letters. Worth targeting V-containing words once the HA opening is confirmed.

BIRCH: A genus of tree, also common as a surname. The CH ending is the giveaway – once B and I land, the tree-name frame narrows the field quickly. Among the four boards today, BIRCH is probably the cleanest solve for players with a strong vocabulary.
