An extract from the programs for the Easter weekend – without claiming to be complete.

WATER BATTLE, SPUCK ATTACK, GOTZE-TOR – FOOTBALL WORLD CUP:

For several weeks now, ARD has been showing historical football games on the “Sportschau” regular on Saturday. The Easter weekend is now both on television and on «sportschau.de» in the spirit of the German World Cup triumphs in 1974, 1990 and 2014.

On Saturday (6.20 p.m.) the 2014 final in Rio de Janeiro will be celebrated with the 1st DFB team’s 0-0 success against Argentina shown thanks to Mario Gotze’s goal.

On Sunday (11:00 a.m.) there will be a live stream showing the three most important games of the team around Frank Beckenbauer at the 1974 World Cup – with original comments. The former GDR star reporter Heinz Florian Oertel can be heard in the DFB team’s 0-1 win against the GDR in the preliminary round in Hamburg. You can also see the legendary water battle in Frankfurt against Poland (1-0) with Ernst Huberty and the final against the Netherlands (2-1) in Munich with Rudi Michel.

On Monday (11:00 a.m.) the focus of «sportschau.de» is the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Also there: the spitting attack by Dutchman Frank Rijkaard against Rudi Voller and Andreas Brehmes converted penalty kick to the final victory against Argentina.

Sport1 also commemorates the 2014 World Cup. The film “Die Crew” will be broadcast on Easter Sunday (8:15 pm). Previously (7:00 pm), the documentary “Match 64” shows the final in Rio from different perspectives. Highlights from all World Cup tournaments are told in the new “Gold Stars” chronicle format. The first episode is also on Sunday (6 p.m.).

BRONZE, SILVER, BOLT – THE OLYMPIC GAMES 2012 AND 2016:

Eurosport revives Olympic feelings. After the summer games in Tokyo were postponed by a year to 2021, rings fans were allowed to look back at the past two summer games every hour: on Good Friday (8:00 p.m.) the best of 2012 will be presented in London, the highlights will follow one day later from 2016 in Rio.

A highlight: the triumphs of Jamaica’s sprint superstar Usain Bolt in London and Rio.

LEGEND LONGER – THE GOLF MASTERS IN AUGUSTA

The Golf Masters in Augusta should have been played this weekend. But the Corona crisis forced those responsible to postpone it. As a replacement, Sky devotes an entire day to the history of the classic and the battle for the green winning jacket. On Easter Sunday, the pay TV broadcaster will be showing the official tournament films of some of the most exciting Masters editions from 6 a.m. Bernhard Langer is also there. The now 62-year-old will comment on his successes from 1985 and 1993 from his Florida residence.
