Moscow AgencyAt a meeting on February 22, 2023, Russian senators unanimously approved legislation to freeze Moscow’s participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty (START).Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the eve of his message to the Federal Assembly, said the state was suspending its participation in the Russian-American strategic arms reduction treaty. He also stressed that the country was not withdrawing from the treaty completely. According to the document, the operation of the treaty is frozen, the decision to resume the participation of the Russian Federation in it will be taken by the Russian leader. The law enters into force on the day of its official publication.
