The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is considering an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision of the Russian anti-doping body, which acquitted the Russian figure skater who won Olympic gold.
His doping test was positive.
At the Tokyo Olympics, it turned out that during the doping test of figure skater Kamila Valieva, passed before the Games, traces of trimetazidine, a banned drug that increases endurance, were found.
WADA has expressed its disagreement with the January decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Disciplinary Commission not to punish Valieva for a positive test result at the 2021 Russian Figure Skating Championships.
RUSADA said it did not find Valieva fault or negligence in this incident.
WADA called the decision “wrong under the World Anti-Doping Code”.
“In its appeal, the AMA seeks a four-year suspension and revocation,” the agency said.
