The shooter entered the couple’s home in Blönduós through an unlocked door. He then realized that guests were in the house and came out. There was an exchange of words between him and the owner of the house, which ended with the shooter shooting the owner of the house in the abdomen and seriously injuring him. The shooter entered the house and shot the owner’s wife in the head. She died instantly.
The owner’s son came to help, took the gun from the shooter and a fight broke out between them, which ended up killing the attacker. “An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be suffocation due to pressure on the neck and chest,” police said in a statement.
