Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Canada to send more tanks to Ukraine

Canada will send four more battle tanks to Ukraine, doubling its commitment, and impose sanctions on 192 other Russian individuals and entities, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced.
The new sanctions will target Russian lawmakers who supported the invasion of Ukraine, deputy prime ministers, ministers, Putin administration officials, members of the military and defense sectors and family members that are already on Canada’s sanctions list.
Trudeau’s office said the four previously announced Leopard 2 tanks have already been delivered to Poland, where Ukrainian soldiers are being trained to use them.
In addition to the four new Leopard 2 tanks, Canada will also send an armored vehicle and ammunition.
