Alcohol
Although alcohol consumption before bedtime initially causes drowsiness, its consumption affects deep and REM sleep. This leads to a deterioration in the quality of sleep, which makes a person feel overwhelmed in the morning.
Sugar
Due to the large amount of sugar and carbohydrates, a person can constantly wake up at night. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine points out that increased consumption of sugar and non-fibrous carbohydrates was associated with more frequent nocturnal awakenings during sleep.
