Rybinsk officials will be prosecuted because of the barbaric demolition of a valuable historical building, the Merchant Shoshin’s House, a wooden mansion built in the 19th century.
The owners of the house launched a sample of wooden architecture on the eve of February 23. Before that, the defenders of the city prepared a package of documents in order to apply for the inclusion of the house in the register of cultural heritage sites.
The fact of the demolition caused a scandal. And the prosecutor’s office conducted an investigation.
Based on the results of the audit, the supervisory authority has come to the following conclusion. According to the prosecutor’s office, since 2013, Rybinsk city officials knew about the historical and cultural value of a wooden building with a rich wooden decor. But they did not take steps to ensure that the building was listed on the OKN register. On the contrary, the house was sold to individuals. And the owner was clearly not going to restore the purchased house.
As a result, a criminal case under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence) was opened and is being investigated against officials of the Rybinsk City Hall.
