kremlin.ru | Administration of the President of RussiaThe leaders of Western countries, in order to save money, suggested that their inhabitants replace lettuce and tomatoes with turnips. But even for this vegetable, Europeans will have to go to Russia, because the harvests here are much higher than those of their neighbors, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a plenary meeting of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
The head of state noted that a year ago the West twisted the arms of his companies, forcing them out of the Russian market. Then the country predicted a depression and decline in the consumer sector. Today, however, Western countries themselves face the same problems.
According to the Russian leader, he got to the point of advising citizens to replace lettuce with turnips. It’s a good product, Putin admitted. But he will also have to go to Russia, as its level of turnip harvest far exceeds that of its European neighbors, he explained.
