The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the decision of the pre-trial chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova.
Zakharova reminded that the decisions of the International Criminal Court make no sense for Russia, including from a legal point of view.
- Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and has no obligations under it. Russia does not cooperate with this body, and any arrest ‘receipts’ from the International Court of Justice will be legally null and void for us,” the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.
Previously, the ICC reported that Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova may be involved in “war crimes consisting of illegal deportation of the population (children) and illegal transfer of the population (children) to the Russian Federation. Russia”.
