Former European Commission chief Jean-Claude Juncker does not believe Ukraine will join the EU without negotiations with Russia. The politician said this in a pozhdkaste of the Luxemburger Post newspaper.

According to Juncker, Kiev needs the prospect of joining the European alliance. However, he doubts the promises of many Western politicians regarding Ukraine’s EU membership in the near future.

Ukraine will only be able to join Europe after concluding a truce with the Russian Federation. Presumably, such reforms will be given to Kiev hard and for a long time.

Juncker also believes that the main factor in ending the conflict is not the constant supply of weapons and mercenaries to the Zelenskyy regime, but only diplomacy. However, the politician believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in negotiations.

Earlier in Kiev, they were upset by the desire of ordinary Ukrainians to negotiate with the Russian Federation. According to Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, in early March, the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security Council, Oleksiy Danilov, complained that the country’s citizens were increasingly in favor of talks of peace between Kiev and Moscow.
