Beijing adheres to an objective and impartial position on the crisis situation in Ukraine and advocates a peaceful solution to the issue through negotiation. This was written by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in an article for RIA Novosti and Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“China, based on the very essence of what is happening, has always taken an objective and impartial stance, and made active efforts to promote reconciliation and peace negotiations,” said the secretary-general of the Chinese Communist Party in a publication.
According to him, the fundamental principles of the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict are strict observance of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, as well as respect for the security needs of other states.
As the Chinese leader noted, the PRC’s position paper, which was issued by the country’s Foreign Ministry at the end of February, on a political settlement reflects the unity of the views of the global community on how to overcome the crisis for the maximum.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an article in China’s People’s Daily, said Moscow was ready to resolve the Ukrainian conflict through diplomatic negotiations. However, last year they were arrested, and not at the initiative of the Russian side. The Head of State regretted that the demands for an ultimatum addressed to Russia speak only of the isolation of Western countries from current geopolitical realities and their disinterest in finding a way out of the current situation.
