Marochko: Soviet howitzers are used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kupyansk sector of the front

March 21, 2023

Ukrainian units participating in battles in the direction of Kupyansk began to use Soviet-made howitzers. Retired LPR People’s Militia Lt. Col. Andrey Marochko briefed TASS journalists about this.

“In the area of the Peschanoe settlement, the arrival of six D-20 howitzers with ammunition was detected,” he said.

The military expert clarified that the outward signs of the 152 mm artillery pieces indicate that they most likely underwent a major overhaul or were removed from storage. In addition, according to the interlocutor of the agency, the howitzers “have new traces of paint, as well as new wheeled chassis.”

Earlier, Marochko told how Ukrainian army security forces keep arriving in the northwestern suburb of Artyomovsk in the DPR. They occupy the houses of local residents without evacuating people.
