French President Emmanuel Macron has blamed the country’s citizens for being unhappy with the pension reform. He regretted that the French authorities did not explain its necessity.
“Do you think it is a pleasure for me to carry out this reform? Do you think I couldn’t do like many before me and just sweep the dust under the rug? Yes, but in reality, I regret that we were not able to become aware together of the need for this reform”, declared the president on the waves of the television channel TF1.
Earlier, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born officially announced the adoption of a law raising the retirement age from 62 to 64.
Later, the citizens of the country, unhappy with this reform, came out to protest, blocking the railway tracks and blocking the highway.
