The Norwegian film Munch will premiere on Viaplay tomorrow, Friday March 24. The film has received rave reviews since its premiere in Norwegian cinemas last January.
The world famous painter, Edvard Munch, is played by four well-known Norwegian actors, Alfred Ekker Strande, Mattis Herman Nyquist, Ola G. Furuseth and Anne Krigesvoll.
Edvard Munch’s art is known around the world, but far fewer people know about his dramatic life. The film focuses on the four most important and decisive periods of his life.
Four periods of Munch’s life
The film tells the story of Edvard Munch falling in love for the first time, with a married woman, and his humiliation as an artist when his first exhibition in Berlin was rejected and closed. The film also deals with Munch’s fateful admission to a neurological clinic in Copenhagen, where he is forced to make the most important and influential decision of his life, before battling in the final phase of his life to save his artistic legacy from the Nazis during the war. These four periods of Munch’s life show many different facets of this unique person and artist.
