An unbroken century partnership between Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green helped Australia consolidate their position on Friday at 347 for four at lunch on the second day of the fourth and final cricket Test against India.
Khawaja was playing on 150 while Green was playing on 95 at lunch. Both have shared 177 runs for the fifth wicket so far.
Australia started the day at 255 for four. The team added 92 runs in the morning session without losing a single wicket. This is Green’s highest score in Test cricket. He surpassed his previous top score of 84 runs.
Indian bowlers have struggled to get wickets on a pitch that has been favorable to batting so far. The Australian batsmen have been able to dominate both in attack and defence. After conceding a lot of runs with the second new ball in the dying moments of the first day’s play, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma preferred to restrict runs in the morning session.
To stop the boundary, he applied deep point, deep square leg and deep fine leg. Khawaja and Green, however, did not have much trouble in scoring runs. Against Umesh Yadav (95 without a wicket), the batsmen scored easily for the second day in a row. Green hit three fours in one of his overs, while Mohammed Shami also hit two fours in the last over before lunch.
Meanwhile, Khawaja completed 150 runs in 346 balls with fours on Shami.
