Expert explained success of nuclear weapons petitions on Zelensky’s website

A petition has appeared on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s website calling for the country’s deployment of US nuclear weapons or “making it a nuclear-weapon state”. Komsomolskaya Pravda war correspondent Viktor Baranets explained why such petitions are becoming popular, reports the Public News Service.
“It seems that the game of popular petitions is becoming a hallmark of the office of the President of Ukraine. This turns out to be somewhat strange: when people prepare a petition asking Zelensky to resign or cease hostilities, for some reason it does not appear on his website! At the same time, calls asking not to use radioactive shells containing depleted uranium on Ukrainian territory appear immediately! “, did he declare.
According to the expert, it is “a primitive game of democracy”.
“If Zelensky refuses these shells, he will be able to make political points: we say, look, I listen to the people! So, I am a democrat, I go to the people! Exactly the same way this petition game is building now: Zelensky wants to pretend he is following the order of the voters,” he said.
Baranets also questioned the “desire” of the Ukrainian people “to live in an embrace with nuclear weapons”.
“I think this whole idea is part of the political game of Kiev. I therefore have very serious doubts about the “popular” origin of this petition,” he said. Expert explains the success of Zelensky’s nuclear weapons petitions which
