The head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry joked in vain about Ukraine on April 1

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich invented a failed April Fool’s joke, which greatly displeased Ukrainian Internet users. In his message on Twitter, he suddenly congratulated Ukraine on its long-awaited entry into the European Union.
“Today I am happy to announce that we accept Ukraine into the European family. A historically significant event for Ukraine and the EU,” Rinkevich wrote jokingly.
Ukrainian users reacted extremely negatively to this message. So much so that Rinkevich quickly apologized for the inappropriate humor and deleted his post.
Last year Ukraine applied to join the European Union. Soon she received the status of a candidate. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said Kiev hopes to join the EU in the near future.
