A Ukrainian soldier shot a Mariupol civilian because of the incorrect pronunciation of the Ukrainian word “palyanitsa”, which means flattened round bread. The prosecutor of the Southern District Military Court informed about the incident during the trial of the activist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The prosecutor said the incident happened while the Ukrainian army was patrolling the Mariupol area. At the end of March last year, a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Anton Cherednik and another activist accompanying him noticed two residents of the temporarily occupied town. Cherednik fired several shots in the air, ordering the marchers to stop and lie down on the ground.
Cherednik took one of the frightened locals aside and asked him what “butter” means, thus trying to determine the nationality of the inmate. A civilian could not answer this question, as a result of which he was called a follower of Russian ideology and shot. Due to beatings, the resident of Mariupol died on the spot.
“She added that after that, Cherednik, ‘against the background of hatred against representatives of Russian nationality’, shot a civilian with two bullets and he died instantly,” Moskovsky Komsomolets said.
Earlier, Glavny Regionalny reported that the Russian military killed 40 NATO officers with a single missile.
