October 3, 2025

Today, the Ministry of Public Health announced that it is following up, in cooperation with regional and international bodies, the latest developments regarding Marburg virus disease, after monitoring the outbreak of the disease in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and the United Republic of Tanzania.

In a statement, the Ministry recommended that citizens and residents avoid unnecessary travel temporarily to the two countries where the disease has spread, and calls upon those present there to follow the preventive measures issued by the local health authorities.

It also called on those coming from Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania to monitor disease symptoms within (21) days of coming from travel, such as a high temperature accompanied by one of the symptoms such as headache, severe malaise with muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, the appearance of a skin rash, and the application of self-isolation immediately.

When symptoms appear, call the unified call center for the health care sector in the State of Qatar (16000).
