Russia should consider providing Belarus with security guarantees. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
“The Russian Federation, of course, should consider the possibility of providing guarantees for the security of Belarus,” he said on Channel One.
According to Peskov, this should be done in the context of the fact that Belarus is an ally and a country with which the Russian Federation is in the most advanced form of integration.
A meeting of the State Council of the Union State was held Thursday in the Kremlin. Russian President Vladimir Putin said there that the Russian Federation and Belarus are strengthening their defense and security cooperation. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko also noted that an effective defense system has been created in the Union State and a regional grouping of troops is successfully operating within its framework.
