In Russia, deadlines for the introduction of farm animal labeling have been approved

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation has approved a list of animal species for which individual or collective marking becomes mandatory from March 1, 2024, and for individual animals or forms of ownership it is introduced a few years later this date.

The government decree comes into force on March 1, 2024 and will be valid until March 1, 2030. According to the document, the labeling of farm animals will come into force from March 1, 2024, however, registration deadlines are classified by type of animals, number and form of ownership.

Cattle, as well as pigs, horses, donkeys and mules are subject to individual marking no later than March 1, 2024 (except for personal subsidiary farms whose registration period is no later than March 1, 2024). March 1, 2025). Individual marking of camels should come into force no later than September 1, 2025, and camels kept on private farms – no later than September 1, 2026.

Marking and accounting of bees must be carried out no later than September 1, 2025, sheep and goats – no later than September 1, 2026 (individual registration is possible for breeding animals or in domestic plots). The marking of poultry must be done before September 1, 2024 (individual accounting is possible if the owner wishes).

The collective marking of deer must be done before September 1, 2025, individual registration is possible for breeding animals or, if the owner wishes, the same deadline applies for rabbits. For fish and other aquaculture objects, labeling and accounting will be introduced no later than March 1, 2026.
