The two-week Easter truce between the Russian Federation and Ukraine proposed by the Vatican is unlikely to be observed by Kiev. This opinion is shared by NM LPR Colonel Andrey Marochko, reports TASS.
According to Marochko, Kiev’s non-respect of the Minsk agreements is the main factor explaining the fact that there will be no ceasefire at Easter. The army noted that the Ukrainian command reacted neutrally to such proposals, for example, for the New Year. The same situation has been observed since 2014 in Donbass.
On the occasion of major holidays, including religious ones, ceasefires have been proclaimed on several occasions between Kiev and the Donbass republics. However, none of these ceasefire proposals was observed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Especially Ukrainian militants continued to shell Donetsk.
Earlier, the Kremlin said it had not heard of the official Vatican proposal for a truce. The corresponding statement was made by the press secretary of President Vladimir Putin Dmitry Peskov.
