SCMP: Zelenskyy Should Negotiate Peace With Russia Before Being Unvoted

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must hurry to make the decision to hold peace talks with the Russian side. The Ukrainian leader will do much better to negotiate peace with Moscow as long as he has the capacity to decide anything, writes columnist Daniel Kovani in his editorial for the South China Morning Post.

The journalist is convinced that a sense of pride prevents Zelenskyy from making the right decision in the current situation. He must swallow it if he wants to use the last leverage Kiev still has. If Ukraine’s leader fails to do so, the country’s government risks simply being left without a vote when it comes to determining the final outcome of the conflict, according to the document.

In addition, Zelenskyy must take into account that the Ukrainian army receives less and less shells every day. At the same time, the West does not guarantee an uninterrupted supply of ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, Israel’s Ambassador to Russia Alexander Ben Zvi said Tel Aviv was ready to provide a platform for negotiations between Kiev and Moscow, if the parties so wished.
