Admit it, it’s hard to believe that anyone in the world of K-pop can beat the popular group BTS!? But it happened! A few days ago, the special international federation IFPI claimed that our idols had a competitor. It’s Jay Chou!

According to the count, the musician took the first place in the world album sales chart in 2022. This ranking is made up of the sales of physical and digital copies. By the way, a year earlier (that is, in 2021), singer Adele took first place. And our idols premiered the most difficult year for the whole world – in 2020.

What do we know about the BTS competitor? Jay Chou is the first Chinese-language artist to reach number one on the chart. He made his debut in 1997. Now Jay is known not only as a musician, but also as an actor. True, this time it was not known how many albums the musician had sold. The guy is incredibly happy to have been able to make history. He shared his feelings on social media.

“This historic moment representing China Wave‎ has exceeded my expectations. Thank you all,” he thanked followers.
