This year marks the 10th anniversary of China’s introduction of the Belt and Road Initiative. New films from Asian countries along the Belt and Road were screened during the recently held 13th Beijing International Film Festival. Asian filmmakers participating in the festival said that through film, cultural exchanges between countries along the Belt and Road will be strengthened and Asia’s cultural faith will be shown to the world. 93 countries and regions compete in the current film festival 1,488 films of which foreign films accounted for more than 80 percent. Ten films from Asian countries, including Mongolia, the Philippines and South Korea, were screened, allowing viewers to feel the Asian culture. Hiroyasu Ando, secretary of the Tokyo International Film Festival, said that although there are differences in the cultures of East Asian countries, Europe’s Totally different in comparison. China and Japan should strengthen film exchange and expand the market. Now is the best period for cooperation and exchange.Thailand director Pimpaka Towira said that China and Thailand have been maintaining cooperation and exchanges in the field of film. In the coming time, the Thai government should support capable Thai filmmakers to participate in more international movement.Chao Chweun, deputy secretary-general of the China Film Association, said that the countries along the Belt and Road have a deep cultural background and rich civilization.
