Bank of Cyprus has started notifying Russian customers of account closures, Business FM reports.
According to our information, the accounts will be closed within 2 months.
The document clarifies that these measures apply to tax residents of Russia who receive income from sanctions activity in the Russian Federation. In addition, notifications are sent to persons who have received a residence permit in Cyprus in connection with the purchase of real estate. Similar notifications are received by Russian citizens staying in Cyprus on a tourist visa.
At the same time, experts note that the closure of the accounts of people whose names end in “-ov” has been going on for a long time, at the request of local authorities.
On April 14, Forbes magazine announced that one of the largest banks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Emirates NBD – will start transferring the assets of Russian citizens to separate accounts, where all payments on their securities will fall. Letters about this began to receive Russian customers of the credit institution.
