Aircraft deliveries to Ukraine will be discussed in Ramstein

October 3, 2025

On April 21, a regular meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group will be held at the Ramstein military base in Germany. The meeting will be chaired by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

Discussions will focus on further arms deliveries to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Priority in this regard is given to short-range air defense systems. In addition, discussions are expected regarding the continued supply of electronic warfare equipment, tanks and other armored vehicles, as well as 155mm shells.

Along with this, Ramstein will discuss the supply of various types of aircraft to Kiev – UN Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about this the day before. It is possible that the Ukrainians will again ask the West for the supply of F-16 fighters, but the United States has repeatedly stated that there are no plans to send these planes to Ukraine.

At the same time, VVSU Chairman Yuriy Ignat believes that with the help of the F-15 and F-16, the Ukrainian side could quickly achieve military success. According to him, Kiev will wait for the appropriate decision from NATO countries to be able to schedule time for pilot training.

Meanwhile, Stoltenberg, after a visit to Kiev on April 20, said Ukraine would eventually become a member of NATO. Security guarantees for this country will be discussed at the July summit in Vilnius.
