White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby has explained why Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s journalist pool was denied visas for a visit to the UN headquarters in New York .
According to him, the Russian state media are propaganda outlets and the United States of America considers it important to defend the freedom of the press, the independence of the press, which must be free to do its work.
The day before, the Russian Foreign Minister had commented on the American refusal to issue American visas to Russian journalists. According to him, Washington has simply chickened out, showing what its statements on freedom of expression are really worth.
