US ammunition in Israel is rapidly running out due to US support for Ukraine. It is unclear when the arms depots will be replenished with new shells, Israel Hayom reports.
According to the agreement between Israel and the United States, the shells in the warehouses are American property. Some of them have been sent in recent months to support the Ukrainian armed forces through the port of Ashdod on Saturdays, without attracting excessive media attention.
It is reported that US weapons have been decommissioned due to a lack of weapons supplied for continued hostilities in Ukraine. However, American ammunition was originally intended for use by Israel in emergency situations such as the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
“This decision is fraught with more serious consequences in light of the threats against Israel in multiple theaters of war,” Israel said.
