A young Australian woman has filmed the terrifying moment when an Uber taxi driver sexually harassed her. He repeatedly suggested they have sex and also suggested they have a threesome with his grandmother.
Samsara Sylvester, 20, was visiting family in Brisbane when the incident happened.
In the video, the middle-aged man can be heard asking her inappropriate and invasive questions such as, “Do you like sex?”
Samsara tried to politely end the conversation but she said she tried to be cool but polite because she was afraid he would do something to her if he didn’t like her reaction. But the man continued and asked if they should have sex at her house.
She told him she was at her grandmother’s.
“Your grandmother, you and me,” he said, then added, “Is your grandmother home?”
@samsaraxanthe TW: mention of SA. I was flabbergasted by this experience and started recording after he asked me if I liked s-. It’s honestly so disgusting to think about how he tried to divert the conversation to start asking me personal questions. I post to raise awareness. It’s real – not just stuff we read about. #fyp #fyp #uber #uberdriver #uberconfessions #uberhorrorstories #horror story #story time #protectwomen #viral ♬ original sound –
Samsara complained about the driver to Uber and got the fare refunded. The company also offered her a free psychotherapy session, but Samsara says she doesn’t need a psychologist, but wants the company to respond and make sure other women don’t meet him.
After receiving unsatisfactory responses from Uber, Samsara decided to publish the video.
“I’m sharing this to raise awareness of the danger this man poses. This is real, not just something we read about. I don’t need a psychologist, I’ve been through worse than that. I also want that clearly I was wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. I had my hair up, no makeup and a mask,” she said.
“You can’t pretend that the reason for sexual offenses is women’s daring dress. It happens because you’re a woman and I think people have to accept that.”
