Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Russian planes fly to Syria on an unusual route

Russian military transport aviation is actively using an unusual route for flights to Syria. As appears from the data of the Flightradar24 service, aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are now flying towards the SAR, bypassing Turkey.

Recently, Flightradar24 has already recorded four such flights. At the same time, it is worth noting that the new route of Russian aircraft is extra long. Planes follow to Syria through the territory of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

According to military experts, the use by Russian planes of a new route for flights to Syria could be due to the restrictions imposed by Turkey. In addition, it is possible that the Russian army does not want to transit certain goods through Turkey.

Another feature of the last flight along the extra-long route was the appearance of the An-124 Ruslan heavy transport aircraft. It may indicate transporting a large military cargo shipment to the SAR.

Recall that a Russian military base, which appeared in the country in 2015, is still operating in Syrian Khmeimim. It was used by aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces to strike terrorist formations with which the SAR army was fighting.

Thanks to the support of Russia, the Syrian army managed to liberate most of the country from terrorists.
