De Gea foul gives Liverpool hope of Golden Square

With the Red Devils’ loss, the gap between fourth-placed Manchester United and fifth-placed Liverpool has narrowed to one point, although United still have a game less.

Manchester United’s loss, which has played 34 games, to West Ham is the second in a row, taking the team’s total loss to 9, as they have drawn 6 games and won 19, and their score stood at 63 points.

By contrast, Liverpool have played 35 matches, won 18, drawn 8 and lost 9 matches, taking their tally to 62 points.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp previously predicted Liverpool’s absence from the Champions League next season.

Klopp said that even if the team consolidate their wins in the remaining league fixtures, it is unlikely to affect the top four spots in the English Premier League table.

Klopp said other teams’ situation is much better than his team’s, noting that those teams are winning their games.

“We have no chance and we have to keep the teams behind,” he added.

The remaining matches for both teams

Liverpool are due to meet Leicester City away from home, while they host Aston Villa at home and Southampton away from home. It’s reasonable to assume that the Reds could win all of these matches.

For their part, Manchester United will host Wolverhampton at home, while Bournemouth will be away, then host Chelsea and Fulham at home, and the games look very easy at the moment.

And Manchester United need a maximum of 9 points from these matches to be sure.

Ten Hag defends De Gea

During Sunday’s game, Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag defended his goalkeeper, David De Gea, and said he had complete confidence in him, even though he made a fatal error that cost his club a 1-0 loss to West Ham United in the Premier League. League.

De Gea allowed a seemingly weak shot from Said Benrahma into his own net as United lost for the second time in a row in the league.

Ten Hag said he hopes the 32-year-old will extend his contract with the club, where he has a contract, until next summer.

Ten Hag told reporters: “He has the cleanest sheets in the league, so we wouldn’t have been in this position without his efforts. He has my full confidence and I’m not worried about that,” according to Reuters.

The Dutch coach added: “It happens, but as a team we have to sort it out, and we have to show character, recover quickly and achieve an uplift. We want him to continue and extend his contract. .”

In response to a question on whether United have been affected by winning 6 games in a row at rivals Liverpool, Ten Hag said: “It’s not Liverpool-related, it’s us-related, because if you look at the table , you will find that everything is tied to our hands.”

He added: “Things haven’t changed. We could have made it easier if we had won, but we need 3 wins from 4 matches. It’s all in our hands and we have to have confidence.”
