The European Union has called on Georgia to respect the sanctions against Russia in the field of aviation and not to allow Russian planes to enter its territory.
“The EU urges Georgia not to allow dangerous Russian aircraft into its territory, as EU and US sanctions prevent Russia from providing licensed maintenance services for US and European aircraft” said EU external service spokesman Peter Stano.
Earlier, the US State Department warned of possible sanctions against Georgian airlines that will fly Russian planes under import and export controls.
Earlier it became known that flights from Russia to Georgia may begin next week.
