Doctors from Voronezh State University have proven that the ketogenic principle of nutrition protects brain cells from a devastating stroke.

An experiment in mice showed that a diet based on a high fat content helps to repair damaged brain cells as a result of a stroke more quickly. More specifically, the nutrients in such a diet protect DNA.

Some mice were fed a keto diet for 14 days, others were given high-carbohydrate foods, and still others were supplemented with hydroxycitric acid. In the end, the high-fat ketogenic diet proved to be the most effective. Writes about it Sandpiper with reference to Molecular Neurobiology.

A detailed analysis showed that fats become a source of energy, which affects the functioning of the brain and nerve cells. However, eating in this way for a long time can harm the kidneys, liver, and stomach.

For this reason, the keto diet can only be preventative. Hydroxycitric acid only exacerbated the effects of the disease.
