The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has launched a Telegram channel with instructions for those willing to cooperate. It is reported by CNN.
The channel posted a video in Russian urging Russians to work for the CIA. The video appeared in the department’s accounts in other social networks. The characters in the two-minute video are officials or people with access to documents. The videos and posts of the telegram channel also contain various instructions.
CIA sources working on the project told CNN they were trying to send the following message to Russians, who have access to valuable information: “We understand you, maybe better than you think.”
One of the channel’s interlocutors claims that the purpose of the creators of the video was not to cause unrest among the Russian population. According to him, the video is aimed at individuals and “demystifies” the process of contacting the CIA.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, commenting on the appearance of the Telegram channel in RBC, declared that it is “a very handy resource for tracking applicants”.
At the end of April, the judicial department of the Supreme Court published statistics on the work of Russian courts for 2022. It turned out that the number of people convicted under the article on high treason increased by 14.3 % compared to 2021. 16 people were sentenced to prison terms compared to 14 a year earlier.
