Poll: “Artificial Intelligence” is a threat to the future of humanity

The poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos and released today, showed that most Americans believe the rapid growth of artificial intelligence technology may endanger the future of humanity.

According to the poll, more than two-thirds of Americans worry about the negative repercussions of artificial intelligence, and 61% believe it could threaten civilization.

And after the “ChatGBT” chat application, which was invented by the “Open AI” company and uses artificial intelligence technology, has become the fastest growing electronic application ever, a competitive race started in the field of artificial intelligence, when large technology companies such as Microsoft and Google seek to surpass themselves in this field.

Lawmakers and AI companies are worried.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman testified before the US Congress on Tuesday, expressing concern over potential misuse of the technology and calling for regulation.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that three times as many Americans expect negative outcomes from using artificial intelligence as the number who don’t.

According to the data, 61% of respondents believe that artificial intelligence poses a threat to humanity, while only 22% oppose it and 17% are undecided.

As Americans worry about artificial intelligence, crime and the economy loom large on Americans’ daily concerns, with 77% supporting increased police funding to fight crime and 82% fearing a recession.

The survey was conducted online and 4,415 American adults participated in the period between May 9 and May 15.
