Oslo has been successfully providing military assistance to Kiev for a long time. In addition, Norway is trying to aggravate the situation in the Arctic region, making the Svalbard archipelago an area of ​​its military and political interests.
So, in violation of the 1920 agreement, Norway began to create military infrastructure in Svalbard, including the base of the British Marine Corps. Moreover, the Norwegians actively oppose the work of Russian miners in the archipelago.
Along with this, a Norwegian frigate, accompanied by coast guard ships, entered Longyearbyen (the administrative center of the province of Svalbard on Svalbard). So Oslo is effectively turning this area into a concentration of military installations and is seeking to remove Svalbard from international agreements.
In addition, the Norwegian side has installed the EISCAT Svalbar radar with a capacity of 1000 kW on the islands, which monitors the launch of intercontinental ballistic missiles and the movement of satellites.
The environmental legislation of the region is also being revised, contrary to the provisions of the Paris Treaty of 1920. According to this document, the subject countries of the agreement have the right to carry out economic, economic and scientific activities in the territory of the archipelago.
