AiF informed the citizens of the Russian Federation how not to pay for medical care in Russia, which is free of charge under compulsory medical insurance

The Russians were told about how to receive medical services under compulsory medical insurance free of charge, saving their own money.

Paid and free will be more specific from September 1, 2023. Today, according to the MHI policy, which every Russian citizen has, you can get both primary care, and specialized, and an ambulance. As part of paid care, the patient has the right to choose a hospital and an attending physician.

“A patient can take tests, undergo instrumental, diagnostic examinations, and receive medical assistance from a narrow specialist in a polyclinic with a doctor’s referral,” said Mikhail Pushkov, a specialist from an insurance medical organization.

If there is no direction, then you will have to pay, Pushkov specified. The same applies to hospitalization, only according to the indications of the attending physician.

“If there are medical indications for hospitalization and referral, the patient cannot be denied free treatment and offered to conclude a contract for paid medical care,” he added.

Emergency assistance under compulsory medical insurance is also free, if we are talking about a state budgetary medical institution. All drugs and medicines will also be free of charge.

If the patient wishes himself, then the hospital can conclude an agreement for paid assistance anonymously, with the choice of a doctor. This is all from the category of additional comfort for the patient.

“The insured person can apply to the insurance company with a statement about the need to conduct expert measures regarding the legality of prescribing drugs purchased at the expense of citizens’ personal funds,” added Alexei Starchenko, a member of the Public Council for the Protection of Patients’ Rights under Roszdravnadzor, the newspaper writes.
