Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Kang held talks with Ethiopian Vice Premier and Foreign Minister Demek Mekonnen on May 25 in Beijing. On this occasion, he said that China and Ethiopia always fully support each other on mutual core interests and important concerns, and want to achieve new development in the relations between the two countries.
Qin Kang said that Ethiopia is currently passing through an important period of establishing peace and focusing on development. China firmly supports Ethiopia’s peace process, is willing to deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and assist Ethiopia in its post-war reconstruction and development.
Demek Mekonen said that Ethiopia attaches great importance to improving the national security situation, and will continue to do its best to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and Chinese people based in Ethiopia. Ethiopia praises China for always calling for peace and safeguarding peace. Ethiopia is willing to strengthen coordination with China in international and regional affairs, and together safeguard the basic policy rules of international relations.
